Want to hear something mad?! I had a bolt out of the blue on Tuesday night - a programme called Worst Places to be a Pilot well and truly took me back to my (unusual and unorthodox) childhood days ... my Dad was a civil engineer so I lived all over the globe - Nigeria in my very young days as a baby, then Khartoum in Sudan where my earliest memories are. But after that we moved to (my Mum wasnt delighted I have to say - I think she had Australia in her sights but no such luck!) Papua New Guinea, which is next to Indonesia. We lived in a town on the north coast called Jayapura for several years before lack of good education meant I had to return to the UK to go to school. But we did spend one holiday in a tribal township called Wamena, as my Dad in particular thought we should get to see some of the country we were living in. And there it was - on Channel 4 - I never thought Id see the day that the most obscure place on the earth that Ive ever been to was featured on prime time TV! There you go... so if I break into a bit of batik or far eastern influence at some point, youll know where its come from!!! Just thought Id share one of my madder experiences (though at the age of 6 I thought it was all perfectly normal back then!) Cx
