Want to know something trippy? Here goes: Achieving success is both HARDER than you think… and also WAY EASIER than you think. Mindf*ck? Totally. Let me explain… 3 weeks ago I got back from leading a retreat in Big Bear with an idea for a new program. I tested the idea here on Facebook, the reaction was super positive, so we went after it. Full-speed. In 21 (crazy+exciting) days, Mike Slavin and I turned the idea into a full-fledge program, with a world-class curriculum and 42 students from 12 countries… And here’s what I realized from this experience… In just about any area of life, business included, we have to work so bloody HARD… to see just how EASY it actually is. We need to hustle for a while… to start seeing through all the clutter and the illusions. And then, we realize just how much of our time in life we spend distracting ourselves from doing the few things that really matter…. We essentially sabotage ourselves by avoiding doing the 5% that gives 95% of the results (yes, that’s the 80/20 rule on steroids). Why? Because even though the 5% doesn’t take much time, it’s challenging. It takes the very best in us to pull it off. So why do we avoid it? Because we’re friggin’ scared (what else?) Scared of failure. Scared of success. Scared of rejection. Scared of effort. Scared of being scared. (!) The #1 thing stopping us from massive success is not that we don’t know enough, that we don’t know the right people, or that we don’t have enough money. The #1 thing is that we’re letting our mind sabotage us, instead of utilizing its LIMITLESS potential. As the Buddha said, “More than those who hate you, more than all your enemies, an undisciplined mind does greater harm.” And to be fair, we never really learned how to master our mind. Not in school. Not in pop culture. Not through our parents. But here’s the beautiful thing… The moment we commit to training our mind, we start removing the faulty beliefs and replacing them by empowering ones. The little voice in our head starts saying things that encourage us and make us feel good... Instead of paralyzing us. And then, it becomes really fun. We get our swagger on. We see clearly what needs to get done. And we do it. Boom. We make magic happen, fast. Without friction. With a smile on our face. And a bounce in our step. I’m here to tell you that you’re not nearly as far from your dreams as you might think. The key is inside of you. And here’s the secret… You don’t need to DO more, you need to BE more. (Took me 2 years of working 50-60 hours a week to realize this) And that won’t happen just by reading inspiring stuff or “7 Tips to Be Awesome” kind of blog posts… Its going to happen by doing the deep work to figure out exactly WHY and HOW the little voice in your head is messing with you… And learning WHAT to do to fix it. That’s the hard part. And thats why Im so excited to lead the 42 members of our Mindset Reprogramming Intensive through this process. Because once you do it… It all becomes pretty easy. Have a great day! Phil PS Lots of love and gratitude to Jesse Elder, Kelly Sullivan Walden Laura Fredrickson and Andy Drish for helping me realize all this.
