Want to say thank you to so many of you who tended my family this past week after we lost our mom. I felt truly held by our church community. I am a person who mostly feels loved by others but you just blew me away. People sent me messages and texts, called and posted on my facebook page to remind me to drink water, to sleep and to eat... in several instances precisely what to eat and drink. Its kinda crazy how one can forget to eat in the midst of crisis and sorrow. My sister and I fell asleep on the couch together after being awake far too many hours without food and rest, and we woke up to Freddie Nechtow at the door with a hot meal. Annie Golson. Mark E. Christiansen, and Ryan Mccarley fed us too. I understand that whole tradition now more so than ever. Some folks walked through the entire process with us. Maureen Bauer Hoyt, Nancy Lain Highfill, Jake Morrill and Freddie are just angels. Period. Its just the most natural thing in the world for them to love. Marge Swenson held me in her arms on Sunday and I felt sorrow melt away from my body. And Jinx Watson, I will never, ever let go of that card you sent with those words that made me fall in a heap on the bed and cry tonight. Its also strange how its hard to cry when you have so much to do to see things through. Thanks also to my lovers Manderley Swain, Ryan McCarley, and Saffron Mills for listening and holding the space for me, not just in this but in my many struggles. So thanks, ORUUC, for loving us and helping us feel a little less loss in the absence of our mother. She would be grateful to you.
