Want to see a great review.... A South of the Border looking hotel. I looked at over a hundred hotels, from Anaheim, CA and beyond, for our December Holiday Getaway of 2014. Hotel Pepper Tree was the most interesting choice for us, along with being the best value. But, there were also other reasons for staging from this location. Both Disneyland and Knott’s Berry Farm were 10 miles or less. AAA has an office about 6 blocks away, along with a Super Walmart in that same area (in case you forgot or needed something). Across the road from the Hotel Pepper Tree, is a grocery store that not only has reasonable prices for food, but also has a well-stocked refrigerated beer aisle. As part of the hotel package, a continental breakfast is provided at the Rotana Café , which is 30 feet away from the hotel’s front door. The continental breakfast is on the slim side, with coffee, tea, milk, OJ, two types of toast that you make yourself, donuts, fresh fruit, fruit salad, and 3 types of cereal to choose from. Or pay $5 per person, for a better breakfast at the same place, and still have access to the items mentioned above. Now, for the Hotel Pepper Tree. -- A great staff, who took the time to make us feel at home. Had answers to every question that we had, and within seconds had maps printed out for our daily trip. -- They had a special going on, that gave us 1 free night (for us, 4 nights for the price of 3). -- We had a 2nd floor room, with a balcony that overlooks the swimming pool area. The pool provides a tropical atmosphere while sitting outside. (look at Bing, map, birds eye view, to locate room areas that interest you.) or Google street view. -- A charming kitchen, with cookware, plates and utensils for only 2 people, and a nice sized fridge. We used the kitchen to make a large bowl of pasta, and kept it in the fridge. If you are short on time, this is the best way to eat quick and get back on the road again. We also had precooked breaded chicken patties, toasted in the frying pan, and added it to the pasta meal. -- A very comfortable King sized bed, a wall mounted AC unit near the bed, a larger quality sized flat screen TV, unique furniture along with a matching overall Mexicana atmosphere. The room was quite spacious and more than satisfied our needs. -- Beautifully kept lush greenery, outdoor water effects, outside sitting areas, and splashes of color everywhere. -- Spanish style floor tile, throughout the hotel, with some carpeting down the aisle walkways. (avoid using high heel shoes inside – Tile grout is recessed, and you might twist your ankle). -- While we were there, it rained for 3 days, and we didn’t mind it at all. But, be careful if your shoes are wet and you walk into the lobby. With the floor tiles being glazed terra cotta, it just might get slippery. The elevator makes getting upstairs quite easy. Now, the first floor rooms are a bit different. In those rooms, you will see a set of sliding doors that leads to an outside courtyard. Very personal, charming, and a great place to have your coffee, read a paper, or just plan your days affair. (maybe look at it as your Pizza café. The outdoor table and chair setting, along with the water fountain on the wall, makes for great dining). This is one place that we would recommend to park hoppers, tourists, photographers, and friends. The price is right, service is great, good décor, and it’s location puts you within a mile of getting you on a major highway. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did. Jerryandbarb8
