Wanted to mention that there is a severe thunderstorm watch area - TopicsExpress

Wanted to mention that there is a severe thunderstorm watch area that has been issued for portions of North and South Carolina along with portions of Georgia and Tennessee. These thunderstorms we did not anticipate becoming as strong as they are. The heating of the day was able to break through the CAP that was in place and strong to severe thunderstorms are breaking out. These are going to be big time wind producers with possibly 70+ mph gusts. Tornadoes are very unlikely. Next want to mention an area of severe weather in Northwestern Pennsylvania. There is no watch for this area but daytime heating and relatively unstable conditions have allowed for some stronger storms a few of which have gone severe. A severe thunderstorm watch continues for portions of upstate New York and Vermont. Again, tornado threat is very low but the damaging wind potential is high. Wind Gusts should stay below 70+mph. Much like there is no watch area for the thunderstorm complex in Pennsylvania, there may be isolated severe storms developing in Wisconsin but not enough convection is expected to warrant a Severe Thunderstorm Watch.
