Wanted to post this when he passed while I was in Europe, but first had to find this very personal and special photo. RIP James Garner, Got to meet (and sing for) this kind, talented man at his sister in laws party in Temecula, California in the summer of 2004, just after his incredible movie The Notebook was released. I was so blown away when he mouthed ever word of Sweet Caroline as I sang, and told me afterwards it was always one of his favorite songs. He was kind, cool and I discovered that night that he had a great sense of humor. While speaking to him I said, Mr. Garner and he quickly piped in, Please, call me Jim. I said to him, Jim, I really loved your last movie, The Notebook. and he responded, Well I certainally hope it is not my last movie! Looking annoyed! I stammered, something like, I mean, uh... and he quicly interupeted with a mischevious smile, saying, I know, I know what you meant! I got ya didnt I! and laughed as he patted me on the back. What a great actor, I believed I had offended him! LOL ! His Rockford and Maverick will be a part of my subconcious memory forever, they were cool guys! Like my FB friend Larry Reid said, in a recent post: James Garner was one of my favorite actors. It is sad to lose the legends of the silver screen. Even when I was young, I preferred him to John Wayne. Anyone can use a gun to solve a problem but Maverick used his wits to outsmart his opponents. I will not forget the lessons you taught me sir. Thanks Larry, neither will I. I was honored to spend an unforgettable evening with you Mr. James Garner, I mean, Jim. RIP you will not be forgotten!
