Wanted to remind our friends who have cherished animals to be extremely careful when buying treats for pets. Our Liska became ill very suddenly and appears to have a liver issue. Blood work showed liver enzymes off the chart. We were baffled as to what may have caused this. After speaking with the groomer early this morning she mentioned that her cats developed liver problems after being given treats purchased at Walmart. We did some research and joined a FB page and were shocked to see the number of pet fatalities linked to dog and cat treats imported from China and purchased at Walmart. I was even more shocked to see a picture of the package of treats that I bought for our dogs. Normally Im very careful what our dogs are fed however the labels can be misleading. Prepared for a Canadian Company is not the same as made by a Canadian company. Many of these treats are imported from the U.S. who still imports from China. Liska is still not out of the woods and we dont know how much damage has been done. Vet will repeat liver tests in two weeks after her course of antibacterial meds, antibiotics and liver tonic. She is not even 18 months old. Its been a frightening experience for us. No more quick read of a label. Its been a hard lesson.
