Wanted to say a few positive things about Emmas life, as not - TopicsExpress

Wanted to say a few positive things about Emmas life, as not everything is doom and gloom. Emma is progressing everyday beyond what anyone expected her to be. Even though early intervention is always the best option, Emma was lucky enough to be put in a family that has what all her caseworkers and therapists say has been the best thing for her. She has Atalie, our youngest daughter, that is only 2 mths older that Emma. I didnt know it was possible that you could actually create twins, but that is exactly what has happened. They are joined at the hip, where one goes the other follows. If one of them gets something they make darn sure that the other gets whatever it is, too. They have their own form of communication and Atalie has been able to understand Emma long before anyone else could. Emma strives everyday to be able to do the things that Atalie does, and Atalie has taken one the teacher/protector roll. From very early on we had to start taking Atalie to therapy with us because she was the only one that Emma would imitate, so having Atalie do it first was the only way to get Emma to. Now that she is finally starting to say some words Atalie will get in Emmas face and say Watch this Emma or Do this Emma and say the words over until Emma at least attempts to say the word. They sleep at the same time, and wake within minutes of each other. Atalie has been one of the most caring infant/toddlers anyone that knows us has ever seen. As I said before we have been having major behavior issues with Emma, and Atalie has been there to comfort or help her thru every time. Whether is be that Emma needs some deep pressure squeezing or just someone to hold her hand while she melts down, Atalie is always by her side. Emma has even been seeking her for comfort over others. I can say it has definitely been one of the most amazing things for us to watch, and from the response I have gotten from those we come in contact with, I gather its not all that common. We could not have been a blessed with a better pair, but I do feel for their teachers when they get into school, I figure forced separation will not be very fun :)
