Wanted to share a couple of positive developments with my Gabby girl!! First, last night was the first night that we broke the 24s!! Just randomly weighed her and she was 24 lbs, 15 oz.!! I knew she would be above 25 after dinner, but this random check made me very happy!! I always record weights taken at the same time, which for us, is before breakfast on an empty stomach. Second improvement is that her pack dynamic skills are really improving. One day after arriving, she almost went for Nikko over a marrow bone sitting between them. Also, Nikko tried to engage her in play early on, and she didnt get it & became rather defensive; she has done the same thing with Jolie but Jolie can entertain herself easily, so she just has fun without interacting with Gabby much. This morning, Gabby got very silly in play with Nikko; and then Jolie charged in & nipped Gabby (PLAY nip, not aggressive) right in the chest or head area (happened fast) - no behavior change whatsoever, she just continued being silly in our normal wake up routine. Im really focusing on loving up on her, including her in everything, letting her know attention & yummy things get passed around to everyone, freely, if only one waits ones turn. Shes getting it and its wonderful to see her develop this way. She was a one-owner, one-dog household for 7+ years before she came here. Now, she is learning to live with 3 other crazy creatures of scottish descent! Four actually, although no Scottish blood runs in my veins (that I know of!), I like to think of myself as scottie! :)
