Wanted to share a recent Desire Map experience with you all: At some point in my journey, food turned from joyful nourishment to complicated/complex/anxiety-producing confusion. So the other day, I asked myself: How would I eat, if I were to eat in alignment with my CDFs? My core desired feelings are: Beauty, Wholeness, Compassion, Joy & Grace. Heres what I came up with: *I would enjoy eating food (I would enjoy food, in general) *I would focus on procuring, preparing, and eating delicious, nourishing, and beautifully-plated whole foods *I would allow myself to eat imperfectly: allowing myself to self-correct after overeating rather than subscribing to the addict mentality (black and white, on or off, good or bad) *I would say grace before each meal and treat the act of eating as a meditation (something to be present for, to revere) *I would eat in celebration/conversion with others as much as possible *I would trust my body to treat ALL food as nourishment and allow it to digest, assimilate and eliminate accordingly (and, if there is healing that needs to take place, I would trust my body to lead me to the most healing foods available to me) *I would focus on high-quality foods and food products that support community & environmental sustainability *I would celebrate food, rather than using food to celebrate And, even now - I realize that if I re-write these in the affirmative, I have myself my own personal food manifesto! There is no end to the power of knowing & owning my CDFs. Very cool.
