Wanted to share something special with all of you:) Three years ago our beloved 8 year old nephew Robert passed away after life long illness. Before he passed he had a major addiction to all things monkey. Every time I saw a new one I bought them for him until he had a collection so large he needed several nets hung from the ceiling to hold them all. The last one ( his favorite) I bought was an old fashioned sock monkey. When he passed in sept I vowed to keep his memory alive for my three daughters. >> So that first Christmas after he passed away, I was shopping and what did I find? Mini sock monkeys for my three daughters. I hung them inside the stockings and when they woke on Christmas morning they were so excited. I explained to them that when Santa went to heaven to deliver Robert his gifts that he had sent these back for them so that they would always have a special part of Robert with them wherever they shall go. It meant the world to them and was a wonderful way to honor his memory. >> Fast forward a year later >> Our preemie Dominick Aiden was born at 33 weeks due to HELLP syndrome >> Weighing 3lbs 9oz >> 16 inches long >> The morning I was released from the hospital we drove 45 minutes to the NICU to see our son ( my first time) >> I stopped into the gift shop because I wanted to get him something special for his NICU stay a part of mommy and daddy when we couldnt be with him. >> As I walk into the gift shop the first thing on the shelf was but of course an adorable sock monkey. I cant explain the emotion that came over me in that moment... I just knew this was a sign from my beloved nephew that things would be ok. And that he would take care of and watch over our precious preemie baby boy. We took our picture with sock monkey on that first day in the NICU and took one every month after to show just how far our strong amazing little fighter is!! This sock monkey will forever be a reminder to us of that scary time and the courage we all had to fight threw it! One day when Dominick Aiden is old enough I shall tell him this story of how he came into this world fighting with his brave guardian Angel Robert beside him
