Ward Congress: Amosun Congratulates APC Condemns reports of parallel congresses Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has congratulated the All Progressives Congress (APC), for the Ward Congress held last Saturday, describing the exercise as successful and a beacon of hope for the country. Speaking yesterday in Abeokuta, Amosun commended the leadership of the party at the national and state levels for the machinery put in place to ensure a credible Congress. He said the turn-out in Ogun was very impressive, adding that Even most encouraging was the orderly manner of the exercise. This shows that we are always ready to set standards for others. We must congratulate ourselves even as we prepare for the Local Government Congress on Saturday. The states helmsman, who was addressing a gathering of party chieftains, described as untrue reports in a segment of the media which gave the impression that parallel congresses were held in all the wards in the state. How can this be true? We are all witnesses to what happened last Saturday. Except in a few wards where unavoidable change of venue led to some justifiable complaints, which were immediately redressed by our party leader, Chief Osoba, after which the exercise went on smoothly, where on earth did we witness parallel congresses, as reported in some papers? the governor asked rhetorically. For instance, in the entire Ogun West Senatorial District that has more than 50 wards, there was no single case of parallel congress that was held. The same exercise was conducted successfully all over. Amosun said the public should not be misinformed, even as the nation prepares for the 2015 elections.
