**Warning** Admin Post. Long post. Emotional post. As many of you may have noticed, today, the group name changed to “Euphoric Delights” There was one really important reason behind changing the name. To save this group from being deleted. I want to share the story behind all of this with you, since you all helped build this group, nurturing it like a child like I did. I had started this group with clear intentions. Learn something new, connect with people and bring community together. It still holds true. Though it’s a lot of hard work being an admin (doing tech support, solving issues between members, answering queries, sometimes listening to gaalis for deleting posts which were not within guidelines :-D ), the fact that so many benefit from group and have always said kind words about it, is a BIG reward in itself. I take pride in it. The hard work work has been totally worth it! My husband, Mahesh Venugopala, the co-admin of the group and many loyal members and well-wishers of this group, have put in their time and effort into keeping this group a clean territory. I owe them. And not a day goes by when I am not thankful for them. In a strange way, it restores my faith in humanity. They were strangers to begin with and now, they are friends. Who care, who watch out and who treat this group like it were their own, with no vested interests. They do it just because it’s the right thing to do. And I owe them. Now, for story I promised. I was approached by a person (who was a member of this group for months) that he/she and his/her business was the registered owner of the trademark “Epicurean Delights”. He/She said that the name was causing brand confusion. He/She demanded that he/she be added as admin or he/she would have the group transferred to his/her name (or worse, have the group taken down) We did research on the legal aspects of her registered trademark, brand infringement, Facebook’s take on groups/pages, cyber squatting, associated lawsuits etc. We were told we had few choices. 1) To do as the person had asked us to. 2) Delete this group and start a completely new one. 3) Rename the group. Unfortunately, groups about 250 members are not allowed to change names, on Facebook. We thought we hit a dead end. Then our dear friend Mohan Gummalam (like an angel sent by god!) helped us and worked with the Facebook team in making an exception and helping in changing the group name so any legal battles could be avoided. (Thank you Mohan and the Facebook team!!) We chose the name Euphoric Delights because it seemed to reflect the true spirit of the group. Hope you agree. I will be posting new admin note with guidelines and FAQ’s soon. I just put this nightmare behind and need to catch a breather. This group has been a support mechanism to many members, in various aspects. And now, it needs your support. As Shakespeare said, a rose by any other name would smell as sweet. All we ask of you, is to accept this change with open arms. Show some love to Euphoric Delights, my fellow EDians. If you feel the group has helped you the slightest bit, show some love.
