If the Internet has proven anything, it is that geeks, nerds, dorks and other assorted misfits are not prone to defend the outcasts from ostracism, as popular culture would have you believe, but will at a moments notice will be all too glad to belittle another as someone below them. In recent times, terms such as neckbeard, autistic, and about fifteen dozen words with the suffix fag have been used to deride others or for the purpose of trolling. The saying usually goes something like if you cant take insults then get off the internet which is self-serving at best and barbaric at worst. It really is eye opening to the nature of humanity if one is willing to make another one seem below them for the purpose of elevating their own meager status. I admit I have been guilty of doing this myself. It is something I am trying to abstain from.
