Warning: Political Rant. Feel free to move on to my next update, which is probably an entertaining re-post of something George Takei posted a year ago. I just dont understand the weirdo overlap of traditional conservative political thought and the Christian Right. The CR represents a liberal movement (now give me a sec to explain) in that it is constantly seeking to expand government intrusion into private/secular life. There is no politically conservative movement alive right now. There are Democrats (who I dont agree with sometimes, but at least they have their shit together, meaning I can predict what they will say/do in a given situation, and it probably wont be ass-hat crazy), and there are a bunch of people coalesced into a cracker-jack party/voting constituency ((R) and (L)) that has no unifying, sensical philosophy or belief system, disqualifying them as a party in any traditional, dependable sense of the word. The next presidential campaign is looking pretty dark for my voting options.
