Warning: Rant coming!! Maybe Im in the minority here, and if so, I dont care! But I am angered when I find a note in my childs backpack from the school district telling me that ALL kindergarten students will be tested the first week in December to see if they qualify for the Gifted & talented program. Testing to include different areas in verbal, nonverbal, quantitative and a writing sample (seriously??!!). I mean...we are talking about more testing of 5-yr olds and already assigning labels to them?!! What the #!@#! happened to naptime, kickball outside, and letting kids be creative and silly in KINDERGARTEN??
