Warning, his may be a lengthy post, because today I completed one of the major things I wanted to do while living in Europe. I walked/climbed/slid/scaled my way across the entire width of the German, Austrian and Italian Alps. Starting in Oberstdorf (Germany) trekking through Austria and finishing in Mirano (Italy). I was lucky to have a comrade in Lulu Bernard for the first half, but justifiably and as a testament to just how bloody tough it was, we said goodbye halfway through Austria. In total I crossed 40 alps, climbed to the summit of 8 (6 were over 2500m and the other 2 were over 3000m high). The entire distance was 210km although 190 of those kms were either climbing, descending or traversing Alps. The views alone made it worth it, but the awesome little huts I stayed in, people I met and feeling of accomplishment at the end all added up to make one awesome adventure. Plus I only almost fell off two 100m cliffs, which is less than I thought I would. Now my feet are aching like nothing else and my mind is clear; time to go get drunk on Italian wine and eat pasta.
