Warning, long personal post: Im reminded today as the wife of a nurse, the daughter of a respiratory therapist and sister of a radiology technician that these careers were chosen because of their desire to help and love people. It definitely wasnt for the recognition or the pay. My dad the RT has to take people off of life support and works in a unit surrounded by death. My brother has to scan mangled and very sick individuals from infants to elderly. And my husband is there, sometimes in the persons last moments to care and do all he can to keep them here for a little longer. Last evening was such a night when he was called in late and came home in the middle of the night. He told me things didnt go so well and that they lost the patient. His heart broke and so did mine. Im so grateful for people like my Jared who instead of becoming callus allow themselves to hurt, to mourn and to ache. So thank you, all my medical friends and family for your selfless lifestyle, and willingness to be uncomfortable so others can be cared for. ❤️
