Warning, long post! Let me outline the week the Band of Pride has had. We worked 84 hours this week. 84! This was spent at school, rehearsals, a parade, a football game, and a contest. We were at school until 11pm last night. Got to school at 6am today. At the end of a 19 hour day, the incredible members of the band of Pride are on their way home as BOA Regional Finalists! The staff would like to take a moment and recognize how special this is. First, the students sacrificed free time, social time, sleep time, work time, homework time, and all relaxation time this week to make this happen. Anyone who thinks teenagers are immature and lazy hasnt met the Band of Pride. This is a special group of kids that will grow to be the leaders of our society in a few short years. The staff has never been prouder than they are at this exact moment. Next, none of this would be possible without the incredible support of our band parents. So many faces have volunteered the last 19 hours of their life to make sure their kids and their fellow band members had everything they needed. The love and devotion that these parents pour out for their children on a weekly basis is an inspiration and a model myself and others. The students of the Band of Pride are lucky to have so many devoted parents who give up all their free time to ensure our success. Success is a sum of many factors. Today was a great day for deserving kids. The directors are grateful to have the opportunity to try and guide so many talented students and dedicated families. This is special time in the Band of Pride. One if many special times over the rich tradition of this program. To alumni, thank you for your efforts. To the band, congratulations! And to everyone else, join band! ;)
