Warning on possible increase in Mexicos sales tax Tijuana, BC January 15, 2015 - Since petroleum is the main source of income in the country, if the price of oil continues to fall this year, there could be new tax reforms next year to compensate for the decline, with increases in the Sales Tax and other taxes, in addition to strengthened controls. This was reported by tax consultant Fausto Hernández Loaiza, at the Fiscal and Economic Landscape 2015 conference, which was given to businessmen, accountants and experts, in which he emphasized that in some way, the government will have to compensate for the instability in the price of oil, and an increase in taxes would be the one of the alternatives.
