Warning this one is hard to watch! For those that really want to - TopicsExpress

Warning this one is hard to watch! For those that really want to fight for human rights and equality, maybe starting here is a very good place. Stirring the pot even more and holding the light, I go onward: This is child abuse in the most systematic and programmed of deep insidious ways. How does this effect a girl? A female for the rest of her life? Why dont these parents realize that this is extremely harmful? Is this cultural in roots? Is it religious in roots? I would like to hear and see a much more open conversation about this from women who have had this done, as well as from parents that have done this..the fact that they do not see the pain and the devastation and the health problems that stem from this, shows me the depth of the ingrained programming that has happened here. Programming that I dare say, reminds me of a massive cult. After all our language reflects that in the words used to even look the other way with this one..cult-ural diversification. This is not going to be changed over night as I do believe this has moved forward as such, for centuries. This is massive. It somewhere long long long ago that this was good for the female. Why? Who is behind this? How far down must females go, for what, to what end? I feel these are actions that are rooted in violent hate filled fear, further promote deep insidious confusion and pain beyond measure, to all who participate and to all who have experienced this. It is time to step back and step out of this very tight and life altering box, and shine the light. It is time to end the silence on this. I would like to hear what are the beliefs are behind this within these cultures that this is done. What do they believe it accomplishes? How does this promote health, happiness, wholesomeness, respect, a feeling of being welcome here on this planet? The same questions arise for me with the issue of circumcision. A form, I believe of male mutilation. Only that one is also sanctioned by the medical boards and done in hospitals under local anesthesia (not adequate I feel) and to a newborn male. or done non anethetized as part of a religious belief, archaic as it seems, by a non medical male religious leader. What message is that one giving forth? Anyways I digress. These practices will not change, nor the powerful, entrenched programming/ beliefs behind this without dialogue about it. For the first step of change is the pulling back of the curtain that has hidden this for so many hundreds of years. So in that way I am very glad for this post and others like it.
