Warren Dhu Claims Round 2 Media release by Motorsport Promotions Round 2 of the J & M Racecraft 4 Cylinder Super at Fraser Shores Maryborough Speedway was a huge success with some of the best wheel to wheel racing seen. I what was a show stopping event the 4 Cylinders stole the lime light from the V8 Sprintcars. 29 cars would meet the green flag with Daniel Smith the only withdrawal with mechanical issues. Round 1 would see last round runner-up Cameron Taylor take the win from the rear of the field in a race which both Garry Harris Snr and Jnr retiring from the event. Unfortunately after working hard all week engine troubles in heat 1 would see Garry Harris Snr retired for the rest of the night. Heat 2 and 3 would see Trevor Brown and Rodney Midolo recover from their horror starts to the series to take the win in heats 2 and 3. Round 2 would see Tim Weir stake his claim taking the win in heat 4 from Stead, and Paul and Hamish Redman in what was a cracker race. Warren Dhu would take the win in heat 5 in convincing fashion with James Elliott finishing on the infield with a flat right rear after starting pole. Cameron Taylor would again exert his dominance by winning Heat 6 from the super-fast escort of Robert Ryan and the ever consistent Aaron Knox. Round 3 saw Robert Ryan take the win from the rear of the grid passing both Stead and Taylor on the way to cement his spot in the Super Six. Trent Dhu’s horror night would continue getting disqualified after failing to realise that his neck brace was sitting on the roof of the car when he drove onto the track. Heat 8 would provide the action for the night with a vastly improved Mitchell Pettigrew taking a ride on the wild side after running a strong 2nd he clipped a tyre on the infield which would see the SB 34 take a wild series of flips. That resulted in both Pettigrew and Craig Wieden finishing on the infield. Brock Hancock would go on to take the win from Warren Dhu and Tim Weir. The final heat would see the flying BMW of Rodney Midolo easily account for both Hamish and Paul Redman and take the final heat win of the night. The Torquewear Super Six would again see the top six drivers battle it out over 3 x 2 lap’s sprint races. Robert Ryan would emerge as the top point scorer in what was a stellar performance in the heats. Taylor would start 2nd followed by Warren Dhu, Hamish Redman, Ben Stead and Rodney Midolo with only 4 points separating the top 6 cars. The Super Six again proved to be a crowd favourite with Dhu, Midolo and Taylor all taking wins but it was the ever consistent Hamish Redman who amassed enough points from the 3 races with a 2 seconds and a fourth to take the Super Six trophy for round 2 and break the track record in the process setting the new mark at 16.560 seconds. The B main would see Anthony Harrison and James Elliott off the front row in the battle for the final 4 places in the A main. Elliott lead from the start to take the win from Harrison with Trent Dhu coming from the rear to finish third with Garry Cartwright filling the final A main spot. The final would again see a reverse grid 20 Lap event with passing points on offer. James Elliott would lead from start to finish to take the win, but all eyes were on Stead, Warren Dhu, Hamish Redman and Taylor who were trying to fight their way through from the rear of the grid. Robert Ryan failed to make an impact after qualifying highest on points. But it was Ben Stead and Warren Dhu who provided the action in the final event with Stead finishing 4 from 16th and Dhu 5th from 18th Starting position. Redman could not replicate his heroics from Kingaroy can could only manage an 8th place finish from 17th on the grid. The only retirements would be Trent Dhu who in his own words should have stayed home and Garry Cartwright both with engine troubles and an unfortunate Mathew Claydon who retired on the last lap. But the night and Round 2 belonged to Warren Dhu who would take the win by 1 point from an increasing fast Ben Stead with third place again going to lap times after Hamish Redman and Tim Weir would finish equal on points. Redman would take third on account of having the faster lap time on the night Rachael Jenkins would not go home disappointed after claiming the Ash Media Best Presented Car and Crew Award with her beautifully presented Honda. Round 3 of the J & M Racecraft Super Series now heads to Lucas oil Lismore Speedway on the 17th of January for the HXR Round of the Series.
