Was a bit shocked to see a man being pulled down the road by his Staffie ! Ok getting pulled by your dog ,it happens. However the point is the dog was leading him,the dog was walking its owner ,the part that shocked me. Why ? Dogs are pack animals ,your dog will think you are its pack. Every dog pack has a leader ,the rest of the pack are followers . Your dog must think youre the leader of his/her pack.If your dog see weakness in your leadership ,it will pick at the weakness.Dogs will test your leadership skills from time to time.If your dog thinks of you as a weak leader ,the dog itself will take on leadership ,then the problems have only just begun ! This may sound all a bit odd to some humans. This is the way dogs think ,to have a successful friendship with your dog ,you must be the leader. Ok your dog pulls on the leash ,this is not the point here.Your dog should follow you on walks not lead .You dog should not be allowed to go past your heels upon walking as a rule of thumb. Remember when you walk through doors, entrances, porches the dog always goes last (the dog follows you) . Always follow commands through. You tell your dog to sit ,dont give up until the dog sits .If you dont think you are going to get your dog to sit ,dont command it to sit.If the dog is hyper ,there is a good chance it is not going to sit or come back on recall .Sit means sit in my pack. Not following command through and giving up halfway through can confuses the dog, show weakness in your leadership plus the next time you command your dog to sit ,even more chance it will not. Thank you from your dog for reading this :) John xx
