Was about to say that Chelsea Handler is perhaps the prettiest of the smart, hip TV personalities but her books title, Uganda be kidding me, seems a bit insensitive. Read any book on Uganda, Congo, Guyana, any African country. Since the 60s all the programs, international aid, billions and billions of dollars, hoards of peace corps sent to help Africa have totally failed. Those who have revisited their earlier efforts are appalled at the regression back to an unlawful, savage, destitute land worse off by far than before. Those humanitarian efforts have turned most of what used to be working farmers, craft people, functioning peoples and tribes into vacuous, morose, faithless vagabonds, imprisoned by poverty with no where to go, totally dependent on aid that is no longer forthcoming - hence the murderous gangs of thugs who rule their patches of turf unmercifully, raping, robbing, killing anyone they come upon. Its a horribly sad story, worse than anyone could have imagined happening yet not none of the high and mighty countries (USA, Russia, Belgium, France, England, at al) who have rapaciously ripped off the natural resources of this continent and destroyed these peoples is held accountable. A horrid, shameful fact.
