Was at Fridays DHB board meeting trying to work out why the health boards obesity strategy lacked any emphasis or credibility and then ... lo ... suddenly realised that many of the persons responsible were actually overweight. And middle-aged women. And telling them that theyre fat and should do something about it is, apparently, insensitive. Which is nonsense: if youre well in excess of the BMI then you do have a problem, DHB staff member or not. Like doctors smoking, overweight health staff should be similarly frowned upon, surely.
