Was at an event yesterday discussing the possible implications for Scottish demographics as a result of independence. Excellent, mature, non-partisan debate. Loads of challenges ahead for government (and actuaries!), whatever the result in September, as the proportion of people of working age declines. Though it sounds as though we are much better placed than Germany, Italy and the Iberian peninsula, who are going to have massive problems in the next 30-40 years.
