Was at my moms apartment and needed a phone number. There is no internet there. Panic set in, heart racing... how will I find a phone number without looking it up online?? In the corner of the room, I noticed a big thick foreign object. Try it, my mom said. Its called a phone book. To me, it is just something I lay on my kids leaf projects to flatten them out overnight. I opened it up and within about 20 seconds I had the phone number. Best Invention Ever. ps. another good use for phone books is when you are building forts with blankets you use phone books and bibles and dictionaries to secure the blankets to the coffee table.
