Was digging around in past files and came across this excerpt from the contract that all troupe members of our old student troupe, Nefer Tem, used to sign: Each dancer in ATS is responsible for every other dancer in the troupe; she needs to dance in a way that makes all her troupe sisters look beautiful and feel supported. In performance, she needs to be a reliable partner who connects with her sister dancers, listens to the music, stays present and connected while dancing, and always works to achieve unity and cohesion with the group. She should respect all members of the troupe and dance openly, willingly, and equally with everyone. It’s not about the individual; it’s about the troupe. This came directly from constant admonition from Carolena in classes that if you focus on making your dance partner look beautiful, and if she does the same for you, the result is always going to be good. Anyway, I was glad for this reminder, and just thought Id share it.
