Was going to wait to post about hunt but stuck in bed waiting for a nasty nasty lung throat infection to pass. Have been super blessed with some incredible 2 days of adventure even while feeling the sick creeping in. My oxygen went down to 80 at one point. On a good note. As we were just sitting down after a demanding hike up the mountain, we heard a noise. Had not even settled in. Thought it was going to be a big elk. My friend figured out it was going to be a bear but I did not know that. I was still thinking elk. Then a bear cub came out of the brush literally a few feet from me. It was so so so cute. But also had to be cautious because we knew a protective momma sow would soon follow. Was not sure what direction she would come. Mom soon came out of the brush. We all stared at each other in awe. They were both so curious as was I. I had my rifle ready but indeed hoping not to use it and 99% sure I would not have to. It just seemed too natural and knew they would run off soon. As my friend explained, the Bears cannot see well. Once they got our scent, the momma bear turned with mega hind leg and hip power like a cutting horse. They then huffed and charged away from us into the woods. Such an incredible experience to be there with nature.
