Was having a (semi-drunk) convo with my bro Jay Hollins recently about hood food spots out west, and he said… E I think youre like the only white dude I know that isnt scared to go anywhere in the city. LOL… its funny, and it brings up a good, relevant point. Im not afraid of black people, thats why. And nobody should be. I carry myself like I belong.. wherever I go. Dont get me wrong, Im far from naive about my surroundings, but the truth is a big part of racial prejudice is that many white people are simply afraid of black people. Some are hateful true enough, but I believe even more are just ignorantly afraid. The media makes it even worse by placing so much focus on all the negativity and violence (another convo me & Jay had today). This fear perpetuates not only some of the police brutality and MURDER, but also the support and defense of it that you see coming from a lot of white people. I have personally witnessed Elgin & Hampshire police act 100% racist more than once… including using the N word…. Why? Because Ive hung around a lot black people My white friends and family that are in denial of this issue…. just because you havent witnessed or experienced it, doesnt make it fictitious. We shouldnt be afraid of each other or fight each other. And nobodys life has a higher value than the other. And now its time for me kick off Club Kitchen real LOUD and disturb my neighbors…. love ya!!
