Was it Pharmaceutical, or Was it You? A lot of you know that I - TopicsExpress

Was it Pharmaceutical, or Was it You? A lot of you know that I recently shared the fact that I was going to face some oral surgery, which I despise, knowing that I’ve done my best over the last 61 years to take good care of my teeth and such, but oh no, a small infection, festering as they do, under a tooth removed/replaced several years ago; sigh. And what a good number of you said, inferred, or emailed me was, “I will be there with you; I will be thinking of you; I will be there in spirit.” The periodontal surgeon assisting me through this procedure was so great from the outset, and I believe truly felt my imaginary fear. I call it imaginary because with all things being what they are today, I should have been awake and laughing and going through the motions of what he called a “simple procedure,” but old fears, well, sometimes you just can’t shake them. And when he witnessed my fear just at the consultation, he said, “I will take care of you.” And he did. As the procedure went forward, I remember the needle [my worst fear] and then I remember him saying “you’re doing very well,” and “we’re going to be done soon,” and other than that [God only knows how he got my attention to listen to him – I can’t find any pinch marks] after one such comment, I remember looking around and seeing the room simply packed with people…no, not just any folk, but my friends, and family, and loved ones, and you. I remember asking, “How did you get them all into the room?” The kind doctor said, “What do you mean?” I said, “They’re all here; how did you get them all in here?” My poor doctor. I’m going to have to explain to him when I go back for a post-surgical checkup to remind him that miracles happen; and when friends say, “I’ll be thinking of you; I’ll be praying for you; I’ll be there in spirit….” Well, they mean it. Because you were there. Thank you. It helped not only on Tuesday, but Wednesday, and today, and it will continue to help me for the rest of my life. (c) KRJ 7-25-13
