Was just informed that I have to be on the performance pay salary. This is the Florida Governments idea for ensuring we have quality teachers in the classroom. It isnt a district initiative. It also means that I dont get a step this year. I receive the same amount as I did last year even though my evaluations were great last year and would warrant a step and salary increase. This is not the way to keep qualified individuals in our schools, Florida. This is an insult to my education and to all the training I have completed to help our district increase test scores. Thats what its all about, right? Using students to evaluate the effectiveness of a teacher? How about we evaluate YOU, governement leaders, based on how well a 15 year old scores on a government test? Youre making it very easy for good, qualified, effective educators and would-be administrators to walk away. Very easy indeed.
