Was just informed that my grand daughter cannot wear her well-earned Appleseed shirt to school, as it promotes GUN VIOLENCE. Say WHAT? Appleseed promotes MARKSMANSHIP, with a healthy dose of American history! From their trifold: Project Appleseed teaches the fundamentals of rifle marksmanship and intertwines these skills with the history and heritage of our great nation. Rifle skills are becoming a lost art in modern America, but we feel that they are as important today as they were on April 19th, 1775 when the first shots were fired on Lexington Green. Attending an Appleseed reacquaints participants with the past and offers them the knowledge and rifle skills necessary to help ensure freedom for the future. Promoting gun violence? I have attended several Appleseeds. I have YET to be exposed to anything even remotely resembling the promotion of gun violence! The opening briefing emphasizes that Appleseed Project is apolitical, not a militia, does NOT train militias, and discourages discussion of such ideas. The Instructors are teaching History, Heritage, Discipline, and Safety. These are bad things? Once again, an apparent knee-jerk reaction by the unknowing, Left-pandering Liberal education system! IF they took the time to actually EDUCATE themselves (not likely), maybe, just MAYBE, they would learn something. Doubtful, but there IS a chance... I encourage these so-called educators to contact me directly to discuss this, or take the time away from their Union meeting to visit appleseedinfo.org and get the straight skinny. Promotes gun violence, indeed! >.
