Was just watching a documentary on the band Lynyrd Skynyrd and thank God for my connection to this wonderful band and wonderful musicians. Jo Jo Billingsley, who was a back-up singer for many years with the band was a dear friend. (We knew her as Debra Jo). Debra Jo had gotten sick the day the band was flying to Baton Rouge, so Cassie took her place and sat where Debra Jo would have sat. When the plane crashed in Mississippi, Cassie bled to death waiting on help to arrive. Debra Jo would later give her heart to Jesus and become a minister of the gospel. Before her death, The Reverend Jo Jo Billingsley traveled some with the band and shared the gospel of Jesus to thousands of fans. (Debra Jo is in Heaven after succumbing to cancer a few years ago.) I also had the wonderful privilege of leading Leon Wilkeson to the Lord a couple of years before he died. Their music was a tremendous influence on me and my friends in our Christian Southern Rock Band, Hosannna in the late 1970s. To God be the Glory!
