Was reading through an old sermon I preached a number of years ago about Arrows in the hands of God. (Isaiah 49:1-2) There are 7 steps in the making of an arrow: Step #1 - The selection of the wood... (God chose us)...Step # 2 - The removal of the branches... (He removes things from our lives that limit our effectiveness)... Step #3 - You soak the arrow in oil (This process softens the wood - Oil represents the Holy Spirit in the Bible. The Holy Spirit softens us the same way. How do we soak ourselves in the Holy Spirit? Through Scripture, Song, Prayer, Encouraging others) Step #4 - You apply heat to the wood to straighten it (James 1:2-4) God uses heat in our lives to test and purify our faith. Step # 5 - You tie the wood to a straight arrow. (When you tie the new arrow to an old straight arrow, the old arrow begins to be impressed into the new arrow to shape it and make it straight. Question, who are you tying yourself too? Our desire should be that we are tying ourselves to those that will make us straighter and sharper - Thats called DISCIPLESHIP) Step # 6 - You sharpen the point and add the feathers. (Proverbs 27:17 - Who are you allowing to sharpen you? Sometimes things happen in our lives to sharpen our dull spirits. The feathers also cause it to fly straight and not get off course) Step # 7 - This is GODs step. AIM AND SHOOT THE ARROW... God has a target (plan) for every one of our lives. Let go and let God... Hope this challenged you today as it did me AGAIN...
