Was ready to bury the #METS (49-54) going into the 9th inning tonight - down 2-0, only four hits, looking lost at the plate again. Then Murphy doubles of former METS closer K-Rod (and his 29 saves), Wright follows with a 1B and RBI to make it 2-1. Duda jumps on the next pitch and deposits it into the METS bullpen and just like that, its 3-2 METSIES. Only thing left was for them to blow it in the 9th, right? But Mejia (after a leadoff walk) strikes out the side for his 14th save. Boy did they need THAT! They are now 4-4 on the road trip with two games left. Wheeler pitched well again, his 5th straight start of just one earned run in each game, but he gets another ND. Carlos Torres gets the win (5-4). Two more left in this 4-game series, Niese (5-5) tomorrow and deGrom (4-5) for the finale on Sunday. Most METS fans would agree that we would be happy with a split in this road trip after the All-Star game and were one win away from it. POSITIVES: Duda hits #17. 10 of his 17 home runs have tied the game or given the METS a lead ... Murphy had 3 hits, but made two errors ... Wheeler struck out 9 ... dArnaud has hit in t of last 10 games ... Eric Campbell had a PH 1B, hes hitting .324 NEGATIVES: Granderson is in another funk, 0-16 ... Murphy made his team leading 12th error that lead to an unearned run ... Abreau / Lagares / Tejada (6-7-8) were 0-12, add in the pitcher and Grandersons 0-4 as a leadoff hitter and thats five outs in a row four times in the game.
