Was talking with another business owner last night about business and employees and I was amazed at how negative their attitude was. Very untrusting and I quote, “You have to roar now and then and let them know who’s boss” “ Don’t let them have to much rope, they’ll take advantage and screw you” “don’t let them know your business, they’ll take it over, steal, rob you blind” I was appalled to say the least, I didn’t believe what I was hearing. First of all how can they be effective if they don’t know your business? Why would you roar at them? Doesn’t make sense to me and I remember hating my boss when he yelled at me. I learned a lot from this person, I learned that if I take that approach I’ll be in the same shape as them. I don’t know about you but my help is like family to me, I love my guy’s and girls and I’m genuinely concerned for their welfare. I’ve had the same people for years and believe me after a snowstorm when everybody has broken trucks, I never do, and if anything broke it was something worn out ready to go not driver error. I don’t yell at my guy’s, I may yell at the shop but my help are people with feelings and as far as trust you better believe I would trust them with my life, and that’s a fact. She can run her business her way, I’ll run mine just as I have and keep my guys happy. Some people just never get it but all I can say is I have the best help you can find and I’ve even had some of my fellow competitors try to steal them, and YES YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE, shame on you. Treat people as you want to be treated, that my friends brings results.
