Was your 2015 New Year’s resolution to improve your health? If - TopicsExpress

Was your 2015 New Year’s resolution to improve your health? If not, then it’s not too late to start. The Ohio State University Extension Office extended a series of SNAP-Ed classes to help those take that first step to improve their health and well-being. SNAP-Ed Program Assistant and Registered Nurse, Margaret Lin, educated participants on the benefits of eating healthy, insight into the My Plate nutritional guide, properly reading food labels, and the importance of incorporating all food groups into their diets. Margaret made the class very fun by introducing new foods to the participants as well as providing cooking demos. SNAP-Ed participants, Tammy, Sade, and Jessica, had an opportunity to sample humus for the first time and LOVED it! Jessica was so motivated by the classes that she added new healthy items to her grocery list, such as couscous and whole grain bread. Now, Jessica is officially a couscous fan! Future classes will involve shopping trips to get a more hands on experience of choosing quality foods, buying quality food with a fixed income, and more cooking demos! Thank you for giving us these tools, Margaret!
