Washington Apple Education Foundation Scholarships: Have you or your parents worked in any capacity in the Tree Fruit Industry in the past few years? If so you may eligible for scholarships through the WAEF. The Washington Apple Education Foundation (WAEF) offers scholarships to students pursuing post-secondary education at trade schools, technical colleges, two- and four-year public and private colleges and universities. WAEF is now accepting applications for the 2015-16 school year! Completed applications must be returned by March 1, 2015 to receive consideration. To apply for a WAEF scholarship, complete the Universal Scholarship Application at https://app.wizehive/appform/login/waef2014 and submit it with all attachments. When you access the application page you will be asked to create a username and password. Your username and password will allow you to complete your application in stages, making changes until you are satisfied with the final product. Once you submit your application, you will be unable to log in to make corrections. VOCATIONAL SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIPS ADDED: Currently, the tree fruit industry is actively seeking talented men and women to fill important roles in warehouses and orchards. Positions require vocational training in electrical, refrigeration, irrigation management, IT, mechanization and many other fields. The industry continues to grow and change with advanced uses of technology. Many exciting opportunities exist! Students wishing to pursue a vocational education should apply for scholarships through WAEF. Those receiving awards will be given opportunities throughout the year to connect with industry members and learn more about career potential. To apply for vocational (and other scholarships): • Students complete the WAEF Universal Scholarship Application at https://app.wizehive/appform/login/waef2014 This is the same form used for all WAEF scholarships. Deadline: March 1, 2015. • Students should be clear about the type of institution they plan to attend and career goal. Our selection committee members understand that career goals may change. Encourage students to write in the narrative box titled “career goal” why they want to pursue a career in the field type. • Selection committee members will be placing extra weight on letters of reference submitted by those that have knowledge of applicants’ unique skills and attributes that translate positively to the work environment.
