Hinda Osman Dhirane was scheduled to be released from custody on Tuesday evening, and when KIRO’s Nick McGurk knocked on her door, a woman answered and then slammed the door. Federal prosecutors say the Dhirane led a fundraising conspiracy by funneling money to a terrorist group called Al Shabaab, which has ties to al-Qaida in Somalia. As part of the investigation, Dhirane had been wiretapped. And KIRO found out that, in court Tuesday, prosecutors say she called the Boston Marathon bombing a “blessing.” In another phone conversation she had allegedly “talked gleefully” about a mall attack in Kenya that killed 67 people.
