Watch the video or read Isaiah 2:1-9 and then enjoy reading Blake Wrens reflection on the text. Blake Wren owns and manages a staffing firm and considers it his ministry to help as many people as possible find fulfilling and rewarding work. His family faithfully attends Broadmoor United Methodist Church in Shreveport. In Isaiah Chapter 2, God sends a message to Isaiah of the triumphs of his people in Judah and Jerusalem. He shares an image of the future when the “mountains of God’s house will be the mountain, towering over all mountains.” This symbolism of the future of the Kingdom of God is glimpse into the power and grace of our Lord. His images of power are awe inspiring yet in these images “great peace” can be gained. In these troubling times, whether in your home, or around the world, we look for places of solitude. A silent moment where we can open our hearts and give our burdens to God. During Advent, we have replaced the joys of the season with the demands of the day. Holiday parties, shopping, traveling, and other demands make this season anything but joyous for many. Solitude is not an option right now, or is it? Remember that we are meant to be awe inspired by the tiniest arrivals on Christmas morning. Let thy heart be still as we prepare for the arrival of the King. All the fuss at the mall and the parties are not what brings us peace. It is the still of the night with a star shining bright that lets us know that a baby is to be born for us. This is our solitude. Jesus Christ is the mountain that will rise above all mountains for the glory of God. For in this child the peace of our hearts is found. You have been saved by this child and the Kingdom of God has been built just for you. Rejoice in the fact that you already know the ending to the story! Prayer: Blessed child, King of Kings, bring us peace through your birth in our hearts and lives this day. Let us remember that the “mountains of God” will rise above all mountains and that your towering presence in our lives is a peace that cannot be taken away. As disciples of Jesus Christ let us bring “peace on earth” and “goodwill to men.”
