Watch this little clip, remember it when you see Gruber and Obama and other defenders of Obamacare trying to walk this back. On at least seven different occasions, Gruber explained the language of the law as it relates to state exchanges. He said states had to set up exchanges or subsidies would stop flowing, threatening the law’s effective existence. In other words, Bye, bye Obamacare. Gruber now insists nobody actually intended for states to have to set up the exchanges to get access to subsidies.* youtu.be/34rttqLh12U During a January 18, 2012 speech, Jonathan Gruber, one of the architects of Obamacare, was asked about health insurance exchanges. He states: In the law it says if the states dont provide them then the federal backstop will. The federal government has been sort of slow in putting out its backstop I think partly because they want to sort of squeeze the states to do it. I think whats important to remember politically about this is if youre a state and you dont set up an exchange that means your citizens dont get their tax credits. But your citizens still pay the taxes that support this bill. So youre essentially saying to your citizens, youre going to pay all the taxes to help all the other states in the country.
