Watch this webcast of the 7/29 Surgeon General Call-to-Action to Prevent Skin Cancer press conference, where Assistant Secretary for Health Howard Koh, M.D., lauded MD Anderson Dr. Jeffrey Gershenwald, co-leader of the MD Anderson Melanoma Moon Shot, for his contributions. Dr. Gershenwald has played a major role in educating the Texas Legislature about the dangers of tanning bed use, said Dr. Koh. In 2013, Texas became the 5th state to enact such a ban for minors under age 18, and were grateful for Dr. Gershenwalds advocacy in that regard. Dr. Gershenwald, a professor in Surgical Oncology, is medical director of the MD Anderson Melanoma and Skin Center.
