Watched The Galileo Seven this evening. Definitely another classic episode(and inspired by The Flight Of The Phoenix, as well as the 1935 cinema epic And Five Came Back). It had some psychological moments. Both on the Enterprise and the Galileo. First, the Enterprise. Kirk had to deal with a stuffy and fussy Federation Commissioner who was more concerned with those perishable pharmaceuticals than the survival of the Galileos crew. I dont blame Kirk for telling him to keep his nose off of his bridge. I would have had security haul Commissioner Ferris from the bridge and be barred entry from it. Second, the Galileo. While I can understand Spocks reasons for scaring off the Taurus II natives, he severely miscalculated how they would react. While Lieutenant Boma was insubordinate during the aftermath of the attack, one can sympathize with his hostility. Who wouldnt get frustrated and furious in a situation like that? Spock should have listened to both Boma and Gaetano. It would have been better to have killed the creatures instead of frightening them off. Sometimes logic isnt the right answer. Sometimes it is necessary to kill. Especially in situations like the one that Spock and the landing party were put into. As to Spocks emotional outburst by jettisoning the Galileos fuel, well...I can say this. While he wont admit that he had such an outburst, he has acknowledged his place within the human race, itself. https://youtube/watch?v=c-Fr8cWdaHY
