Watched an amazing movie from Netflix tonight--The Railway Man with Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman. If you like serious and thoughtful films for grown-ups, you will love this. Its based on the true story of a British former WWII POW in Singapore who survives being tortured in the prison camp but is left with terrible PTSD. Decades later he has the chance to go back and confront his torturer, and he has to decide what to do. The torture scenes are hard to watch but not gratuitous. This movie sank without a trace when it was released in theaters in the US. I hope a lot more people discover it on DVD as I did. So good--one of the best 2 or 3 movies Ive seen in the last year!!
