Watched question time last night , Angela Eagles MP Labour, showed just how out of touch she and her party are with the public at large. Asked if Lord Freud should resign over his gaffe . She started off smirking with self righteousness ove how this evil man wanted the disabled to work for £2 an hour and ended up looking like Andy Capps missus with a rolling pin , when she realised not one single person in the audience or panel agreed with her, and saw it as cheap political point scoring. It was pointed out that what Lord Freud had said, admittedly badly, that it would be better for severely disabled people to be helped to find work with an employer who couldnt justify paying minimum wage for the amount of work they could do, by subsidising the full minimum wage from government. . When I was a kid all the furniture in schools had remploy stamped on them. That was a company set up by the british legion and funded by government to re employ severely disabled ex soldiers from the war. That was stopped because of PC bias and perceived indignities to the disabled ( as well as money) . I cant imagine anything more undignified for a soldier now, having lost say two legs and an arm , being told , you cant work for a living , you must really on handouts. What do our panellists and audience think?
