Watched the game. This was a very good side we played. They finished third in the league that supplied the majority of the players that won the World Cup. After conceding lots of goals pre season we looked solid and comfortable against a champions league side. Kouyate looked good and the kids looked composed against good opposition. Away from home we held our own. The promise made to us by the board of more creative play was not seen today. All of the new players that are Sams buys are good athletes, short passing workhorses. That promise of more creative play lies in the hands of Ravel who is shockingly on remand And Valencia who although hasnt really had a pre season has had a World Cup. Doesnt matter who you are in Sams world work rate counts (even Eto has that against him it seems) So without these little pockets our good honest pros put in a shift. They played football in the way that Sam understands. Truth be told there is no point in slamming Sam for promises made by the Daves that he simply cannot keep? They made promises to placate fans that Sam cannot deliver. More fool them for making them and relying on Sam to change methods ingrained and to try ones he simply does not agree with or comprehend. More fool us for believing them. However if we get 0-0 draws away from home against the top three sides in OUR league I doubt anyone will complain.
