Watched the last three innings of the Sox/Cards game with Beverly Stern Silver, longtime Red Sox fan and native Bostonian. She woke me up after end of sixth. Still have warm memories of calling Nate Rice, my father in law of blessed memory and also a lifelong Sox fan, when Sox won series in 2004, breaking their 86 year old drought. We called him once last out was made. He had been alive in 1918 and experienced a lot of disappointment watching this team over that time. We were thrilled for him. He must have been smiling last night as well considering all the time he spent at Fenway during his lifetime. and witnessed so many disappointing moments there.
