Watching Colbert, I am reminded of the 40th anniversary of President Nixon resigning. I was at Vandenberg AFB wrapping up Minuteman missile training and getting ready to go to my operational unit, the 91st Strategic Missile Wing (SAC) at Minot AFB. I was a staunch Republican then, but the revelations during the summer baffled me. As best I can remember, my reaction to the resignation was to say to myself oh, shit and then go over to the Officers Club for some Coors. Which, I swear, back in 74 was really good.
