To watch someone losing their love after 60 years of marriage is indeed bittersweet. Sweet being in that they had that long of a life together (which on the same hand seems so short) They were able to see their family raised and overcome the struggles I am sure they endured since they were born and bitter in being that we will miss his smile here on this earth.
